From August 27 to September 25, 2025, the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures (CFLC) at Xiamen University provided crucial linguistic support for the inaugural “Golden Egret” Excellence Scholarship Program. Organized by the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) Innovation Center and China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the program brought together 30 officials, scholars, and industry leaders from 22 countries, including BRICS members and other Global South nations.

CFLC faculty and graduate students delivered professional translation, interpretation, and logistical coordination throughout the month-long program. Their contributions ensured smooth communication among participants from diverse linguistic backgrounds, directly supporting the initiative’s goal of strengthening talent exchange and capacity-building among developing countries.

The BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center recently acknowledged CFLC’s efforts with an official letter of appreciation. Since 2021, the college has translated over 800,000 words of BRICS-related materials and provided interpretation services for more than ten major events, demonstrating its consistent commitment to the bloc’s cooperation initiatives.

As BRICS cooperation continues to expand, CFLC remains dedicated to leveraging its linguistic expertise to facilitate international collaboration and support China’s engagement with emerging economies. The college plans to further develop its multilingual capabilities to meet growing demands for high-quality language services in global governance and development programs.
