The College of Foreign Languages and Cultures (CFLC) at Xiamen University successfully hosted the 2025 “Path of Literature” International Academic Conference on September 20. The event brought together nearly 100 scholars from over 40 Chinese and German institutions to examine literary representations of family across cultures and historical periods.

During the opening session, CFLC Dean Professor Chen Jing emphasized Xiamen University’s longstanding tradition in German studies and its recent innovations in dual-degree programs. Six distinguished scholars from Heidelberg University, Fudan University, and other leading institutions delivered keynote addresses, offering interdisciplinary perspectives on family narratives in literature.

The conference featured six parallel forums where participants explored diverse themes including immigrant family stories, war trauma in literature, and cross-cultural comparisons of familial representations. These discussions fostered dynamic academic exchange between Chinese and German researchers.

In her closing remarks, Prof. Gertrud Maria Rösch of Heidelberg University commended the conference for deepening Sino-German academic cooperation and pushing forward critical research on family themes in world literature. The event concluded with a roundtable discussion reflecting on Xiamen University’s contributions to German studies and the future development of its “Path of Literature” academic journal.
