On September 8, 2025, Mr. Valerio De Parolis, Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou, visited the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures (CFLC) at Xiamen University, where he met with Dean Chen Jing, Vice Dean Liu Yue, and Italian lecturer Dr. Xu Yingying.

Dean Chen emphasized CFLC’s dedication to multilingual education and the growing popularity of Italian studies, expressing optimism for enhanced China-Italy academic and cultural exchanges. Consul General De Parolis highlighted the symbolic importance of 2024 as the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo’s passing, and commended CFLC’s contributions to bilateral cooperation.


The discussions centered on expanding collaboration through student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and cultural programs under the Belt and Road framework. The Consul General presented educational materials donated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to supporting these partnerships.

This visit marked a significant step in strengthening CFLC’s ties with Italian institutions, with plans to further develop the Italian program and pursue new international academic opportunities.
