From April 19 to 21, 2024, the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures (CFLC) at Xiamen University successfully held its first Broad-Learning Young Scholars Forum, bringing together outstanding young scholars from prestigious institutions such as the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. The event fostered in-depth discussions on the latest advancements in linguistics and literature.
At the opening ceremony, Li Chenghua, Deputy Director of XMU’s Personnel Office, emphasized the university’s strong commitment to talent development. Professor Chen Jing, Dean of CFLC, highlighted the college’s century-long academic heritage and its dedication to providing a nurturing environment for scholarly excellence.

Scholars also toured CFLC’s state-of-the-art facilities and Xiamen University’s picturesque campus, immersing themselves in its dynamic academic culture. Interactive workshops and department-specific meetings further allowed attendees to showcase their research and teaching approaches.
The closing session adopted a roundtable format, facilitating open dialogue between college leadership and young scholars on talent cultivation strategies and institutional support. By fostering meaningful academic exchange and collaboration, the forum reinforced CFLC’s mission to attract and nurture top-tier talent in foreign language studies, further solidifying its role as a hub for global scholarly engagement.
