On June 24, 2024, Xiamen University’s College of Foreign Languages and Cultures (CFLC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Brill, the renowned Dutch academic publisher. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Maurits van den Boogert, Chief Publishing Officer of De Gruyter-Brill, and Ms. Shun Chunyan, Senior Editor.

Presided over by Vice Dean Liu Yue, the event highlighted the partnership’s potential to enhance intercultural dialogue and expand CFLC’s global academic influence. Representatives from Xiamen University’s International Office and Office of Social Science Research welcomed the collaboration, emphasizing the university’s strengths in humanities research and internationalization.
Dr. van den Boogert introduced Brill’s 340-year legacy and its recent merger with De Gruyter, noting the alignment between Brill’s expertise in Sinology and CFLC’s academic focus. The agreement includes joint publishing projects, such as original works, translations, and book series. Additionally, Vice Dean Liu Yue signed a contract for the journal Intercultural Dialogue, which she will lead as Editor-in-Chief to bridge Chinese and global scholarship.

Faculty from CFLC’s English and European Languages departments participated, discussing future collaborative initiatives. The partnership marks a significant step in promoting cross-cultural academic exchange.
